The Organizing Committee has secured accommodation (for expected max. 230 participants) in the exciting surroundings of the Lake Schluchsee close to Freiburg, Germany. A wonderful area in the Southwest of Germany close to the borders of Switzerland and France (Elsass) with lots of bendy mountainous roads in beautiful landscape and predestined to be discovered by Healeys! The area is also famous for its delicious food and drink highlights like Black Forest gateau, Black Forest ham, venison, smoked trouts, pastas, high class wine, fruit brandy and beers.

We're pleased to advise that a few spaces in the underground parking area are now available - these can be booked through our online booking system.

Invitation

All club members are kindly invited to attend the forthcoming week´s activities. We are now delighted to open our invitation to all other Healey Clubs! We will stay at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten (Four Seasons) - see more on their web site at http://www.vjz.de/en/hotel-vier-jahreszeiten-schluchsee - at Lake Schluchsee in the Highlands of the Black Forest.

You'll find a list of those who've booked for the trip on our Attendees Page.

We have agreed a package deal with the management of this luxury wellness hotel, enabling us to offer an affordable price for taking part in the week long tour. All facilities of the hotel: pools, sauna, indoor and outdoor tennis courts are included. Outstanding breakfast buffets and special themed Dinner buffets are also included on all days. Additionally the hotel offers a wide range of wellness treatments, which can be booked by participants.

The Event

We've planned the week so that you can be reasonably flexible. There are a host of tourist activities you can take part in and we've produced a different planned drive to take you round the picturesque area for every day of the week should you wish!

The Deal

To keep the costs down and avoid the complexities of European VAT rules, payment for the trip will be made in two parts:

  • Each attendee will pay a 'registration fee' of £150 per car to the Austin Healey Club to cover the administration and organisation costs of the event.
  • Attendees will then book and pay for their hotel accommodation direct with the Hotel.

Additionally, attendees will need to make their own arrangements for crossing the channel - though we can offer a route to discounted fares through our Crossing the Channel page.

So typically, the costs of the event (for a couple in one car) are expected to be:

  • Registration Fee - £150
  • Hotel Accommodation - Double Room €130 per person per night (approx £96) = €1560 = approx £1325 for six nights
  • Channel Ferry (Return with AHC Discount) - £90

Giving a total for the whole week's adventure of £1565, before other normal expenses, using an exchange rate of €1.35 to the pound.
